Our A Level STEM students are the coders, engineers, scientists, medics and designers of tomorrow.
We believe Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects are very much for girls. In fact, statistics show, that girls in single-sex schools are more likely to study STEM subjects at A Level than their peers in co-educational settings. Our leaver destinations show just how popular STEM subjects and career are with St Mary's girls.
Located in the heart of Cambridge (or Silicon Fen) we are fortunate to be surrounded by world-leaders in science, mathematics and technology-based industries. Working collaboratively with some of these companies, we offer unique opportunities to students interested in this sector, including work placements with companies such as Mott MacDonald and Microsoft Research.
Our aspiring biologists, chemists and physicists are taught by subject specialists in our cutting-edge science laboratories. Computer Science and Textile Design are also both very popular at A Level.

"People should consider programming more, it’s not geeky; it’s fun! Computer Science is where the future is." Hannah B.D. Sixth Form STEM scholar
With a skills-shortage in the UK engineering sector, there is much demand for young women to enter the profession. By introducing our girls to the breadth and creativity of engineering-based activities from Junior School onward, we aim to inspire a new generation of female engineers.
An impressive number of our leavers opt to pursue Engineering at degree level and beyond.
